You can choose, to have your Felbert leather artical made using ye olde saddler's stitch (hand-sewn) method or have it stitched together using a machine. The difference is price, the look and durability. It costs 1/3 less to make leather items using the lockstitch sewing machine vs saddle stitching by hand with 2 needles and a stitching awl. For prolongevity of the item, the saddler's stitch using waxed linen threads provides a stronger hold and is more flexable than machine stitched leathergoods. Machine stitching with synthetic threads tend to cut into the leather, are too stretchy — can become unraveled, and is subject to UV degradation whereas linen threads for hand-sewing will wear out first, making re-stitching an easy repair in the future.
